Foot Care Tips

Foot is one of the most important parts of human body. But we are not careful about it. At present, foot is considered as the most important instrument of the human body. Only a pair of shoes can properly run that instrument but the shoes have to be fitted and correct sized. The structure of our feet is manifold that reflects our general health and comfort. Symptoms such as persistent suffering or soreness are alarming signs. When you feel pain in your joint, you should not neglect. It can be dangerous at any times. Even avoiding pain can lead more serious postural problems. So, it’s too important to take a great care of your feet by following some guidelines.

Wear properly supported, correct sized and fitted footwear that reduces the chance of injury. Actually, foot problems are originated from ill-fitted footwear. Avoid wearing same shoes everyday and put on light shoes. Wear such kind of footwear that is made of leather and other natural materials. If you suffer too much pain continuously, go on a chiropodist. Small structural imbalance can affect your body. Choose socks made from man-made fibers to keep skin dry and reduce odor. You also can choose socks containing 70% cotton or wool. Change socks at least once a day.

Calf stretches keep feet supple and help to move comfortably. To stretch your calf and heel, stand facing a wall with feed hip width apart and slightly bent at the knee. Air your shoes after exercise to prevent build up of bacteria.

Don’t use too old shoes. Vary heel heights from day to day by wearing low heels and slightly higher heels. Keep heel heights about 2cm for everyday use. Wear shoes with a strap or lace over the instep rather than slips-on because it will reduces the chance of sliding forward. Keep your feet always dry and clean. Keep toenails trimmed. Be aware of moist feet to avoid fungal infection.

Wear shoes for short time a day and use powder to prevent bad odor. Massage your feet with a foot roller to make it refresh.

Sitting with feet up for 10 minutes helps to circulate. Your feet can reflect your general health conditions like arthritis, diabetes and neurological or circulatory disorders.

Circle your feet ten times in each direction or alphabetically while sitting at your desk. Straighten your toes and wriggle them around. Raising point, curl your toes for 5 seconds repeatedly. It’s particular good for your toe cramps. You can visit an experienced podiatrist for advice.

Diabetic Foot Tips

Keep feet clean; wash them everyday using mild soap and lukewarm water. Check your feet carefully. Search for redness, sores, cuts, blisters, swellings, calluses and corns changes in skin color, ingrown toenails and so on. Use mirror to see your feet. Call a doctor if you notice anything skeptical.

Don’t rub and use a soft towel and pat and gently to dry your feet well. Use non-medicated powder before wearing shoes or socks. If you have dry and creaking skin, you can moisturize your feet applying cream or lanolin lotion on the heel. But don’t moisturize between toes because it causes fungal infection. Don’t wash your feet too long as it makes skin too fragile. Avoid going bare-foot even when indoors. Treading on something and making feet too hot or cold might damage the skin. Step in after checking the bath temperature, avoid electric blankets or foot spas. Exercise your feet regularly. Cut your nails and file your toenails to make them smooth.
